Dear Iliana and Das,
I don't mean to drag up old news, but since I've returned from my long
absence, I feel the need to clarify somethings.
Iliana, I appreciate your kind words. I still remember quite vividly the
days when you and I were youngsters, cutting our teeth in Ashtani
politics to try and help make a difference in this world. Those were the
days, no?
Ainia did not break my heart. It may have been quite the opposite. After
professing my love, taking her hand, and promising that I'd always be at
her side, I departed this world without leaving any evidence of a
possible return. I didn't even tell her that I was leaving. I assure you
that this, in conjunction to years of her waiting hopelessly for me, was
the direct causation of our divorce.
Upon my return, after some thirty years, I was not at all surprised. She
had done exactly what I had hoped she would: move on. I will admit that
it did and still does pain me somehow to see her married to another man.
However, this is a pain any man would feel seeing an ex-bride remarried
regardless of what drove them apart in the first place. They call it
mortality.
Das, if we shall judge people on their behavior alone, then perhaps
you're not the best candidate to be doing the judging. I'm sorry that
Ainia disposed of you (actually, I'm not), but your own behavior over
the years puts you in no position to speak ill of the behavior of
others.
Sincerely,
Horatio Moonflair
