A Surprising Turn of Events

Hail Sapience!

I trust you are all having a bright and splendid day. I have followed
with mild disinterest recent happenings in Shallam, and today, something
occurred which, I have to say, took me by some surprise.

As far as I understand it, several highly-respected and highly-ranked
citizens of Shallam were cast out for considering that there may, at
some point in the future, under unspecified circumstances be a remote
possibility that it may be necessary to work with Occultists to achieve
a common goal. Well, that is fine. Shallam can be as zealous and as
disregarding of its citizens' hard work as it pleases. And that, I
thought, was an end to it.

Imagine my surprise, Sapience! When I discovered several of the
strongest supporters of that action, co-operating with an Occultist
themselves! Yes, indeed. Riashain and Silas, I saw certainly, and I am
told Alinoe as well, although I did not see the last there with my own
eyes, defiling a shrine with that wielder of Chaos magic, Geraint
Corten. And before I was slaughtered by that group, I overheard them all
talking to each other merrily without a care in the world. That is
correct, Sapience: Riashain, Silas and (possibly) Alinoe co-operating
with an Occultist.

I mentioned this to them in passing and how they took fright. We just
*happened* to be walking by at the same time, they said. We just
*happened* to be doing exactly the same thing to exactly the same shrine
at exactly the same moment. Their story, Im sure you believe, stretches
the very bounds of credulity.

As this is a matter internal to Shallam, I care very little what you
Shallamites or other concerned folk do with this information, but I
thought, at the very least, such hypocrisy could not go unrevealed.

Yours,
Tenebrus, a public servant
