Teachings of Lady Mithraea

Greetings, Lady Tarah and Shallam.

it is a sad day indeed when one path of good battles with another, with
insults and disbelief, stating that one path is not the right one. I
never thought to see this day. Always, we had to take the blunt of
insults
from those who follow the paths of evil, greed and selfishness, never
did I imagine this day possible.

I understand from various witnesses that You insinuated that the Order
of Lady Mithraea no longer upholds Her teachings. To me, that is very
serious indeed.

I am the last remaining member of The Eight-point Star, still awake,
as well as a Scion of the Lady Mithraea's Order. And whilst I may not
be able to comprehend the thoughts of My Lady entirely, I present some
of Her teachings as penned by Her for the rest of Sapience to make up
their own minds.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from the Basic Manual on Core Mitran
Teachings :
The Mitras are based on one core belief, that being that life is a
beautiful gift which should be cherished and respected. All the other
beliefs stem from this one and it is very important that you understand
this prior to attempting to understand the other teachings.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from the Basic Manual on Core Mitran
Teachings :
That being said, let it also be firmly and
irrevocably stated that mortals, and I daresay
many immortals, have no chance to fully
understand, appreciate, or recognize what Good
is and what it is not. So what does this mean?
It means that for mortals, attempting to
understand, explain or state what Good itself
is, is akin to someone who has been deaf from
birth attempting to understand, explain, or
state the complex beauty of an exceptional
symphony.

Quote of Lady Mithraea, taken from the Basic Manual on Core Mitran
Teachings :
Thus, if we want a world where progress and the flourishing of life are
the norm, we need a world where individual freedoms are respected, where
life is respected, where new thoughts and methods are encouraged, and
where people can live their lives as they see fit as long as it harms no
one else. These are some of the core qualities of Good. Respect for one
another, a willingness to help, a willingness to protect the rights,
etc.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from The Essay of Good, part 1 :
...We will call
the true Good, absolute good, and the
perceptions of good, relative good. Any mortal
who insists they know for a fact that they
always unerringly know what is good and what
is not, and attempts to force said opinion
upon you should be avoided.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from The Essay of Good, part 1 :
Fortunately, there is a very simple method
for ascertaining whether or not an action, set
of actions, intent, result, etc. is likely to
fit in with the good view of things,
especially for the mortals of Achaea. In a
very broad sense, that which is good is that
which is likely to promote life. Not just the
state of being alive, but the state of being
healthy, happy, and free. This is of course a
very simple view, but it gives some foundation
for the determination of a relative good that
actually can come close to matching the
absolute good.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from The Essay of Good, part 2 :
It is easy to fall into a trap of considering
yourself, or your organization to be good, and
thus everything you or your organization does
as being good as well. Failing to look at all
of your actions objectively and in detail
leads to lapses of judgement and the arrogant
belief that you know exactly what you're
doing. This tends to result in you doing the
wrong thing with the best of intentions.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from a Mithraea news post :
...but Good is not the ONLY way to accomplish what
we're trying to accomplish, simply the most logical way. There are other
paths. The easiest path would be an extreme version of evil where
everyone else was simply killed off. The potential would be severely
limited, however you could still attain it.

What we're trying to do is maximize the potential. So Good works best
for that.

QUOTE of Lady Mithraea, taken from a Mithraea news post on the subject
of good (also found in the Treatise) :
To "be" good is simpler than serving good. All it takes to be good is to
follow the primary directive of growth. To work to better yourself while
making sure you don't hurt other efforts in that same regard. To serve
good requires more. It's a commitment to the growth of Creation as a
whole. This means you must help other aspects of Creation to grow. You
must counter the efforts of those who are against this growth, yet
always recognize that they too are part of Creation and thus eradication
should not be the first counter method looked to.
