Idiocy Unbound

Greetings Sapience!

I trust that this brief post finds you all well.

Now. One takes a brief rest from life, and it seems that idiocy sprouts
up everywhere, like a weed. Dharke, my dear dear Dharke. I hardly know
where to begin.

Thief Hunter, you title yourself (the first in a slew of unearned
titles, of which more later). And yet you run and hide like a whipped
cur in your city, when any one of a dozen marks is hired upon you.
However do you plan to hunt thieves effectively when you have the
backbone of a jelly? And at times, I do believe the sound of your
pathetic whinging reaches all the way from Shallam to Mhaldor. I roam
this world freely, taking what I please and your...amusing efforts will
have no effect on that, I promise you. And your academy of theft defence
is an endearing notion. And yet one, which is doomed to failure. Allow
me to explain.

The knowledge of how to defend oneself against theft is common. Thieves
succeed because of laziness and indiscipline. This failing is only
remedied once a successful theft has been perpetrated against a victim.
Thieves are the only effective teachers of anti-theft, because we
provide the only lessons which work. Our lessons work, because they
hurt. Only once Suffering is experienced, will wisdom take hold. You can
strive and toil for a hundred years or more, and you will never teach
more theft defence than I have taught. This is just one of the many ways
in which the wisdom of the Master of Suffering transcends that of the
Mistress of Compassion.

And finally, a brief word for Daes, who, taking time out from presiding
over the decline of the once formidable House of the Serpentlords, has
decided to title himself "Prince of Thieves", proof only that his
opinion of himself far exceeds his abilities. And yet, I understand that
in the early days of taking up theft, the rush of excitement can go to
one's head which can become consequently swollen. However, it is never
wise to let these things go unchecked. Title yourself something a little
more in keeping with your abilities and experience - perhaps "Daes,
Apprentice Thief". Yes, that sounds about right. I'd hate to have to
clear out your personal stockroom in your own House Hall AGAIN to teach
you a lesson in humility.

Yours, appalled,
Tenebrus, Thief Extraordinaire; Proselytist and Cutpurse; Deflater of
Egos and Scourge of Idiocy.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Ero, in the year 428 AF.
