Ashtan

Greetings Everyone,

According to the scroll HELP ASHTAN - the single dictum of the state is
freedom. Freedom to choose ones own destiny and choices. However, when
it comes to the freedom of another state to choose their own laws, this
appears to be a different matter.

Ashtan earlier declared hostile relations to Hashan over a contraversial
point, namely it's policy of not allowing thieves to be killed inside
the city. With one exception, the names of the induviduals are all
citizens. Now before I go any further, let me just state that I'm not
the biggest fan of Hashan's present stance, but to be honest with you,
the recent actions of certain induviudals and potentially Ashtan are
making me far more favourable to it, simply because I'm not prepared to
allow my view to be strong-armed.

There are certain aspects of Ashtan's laws I don't like. Does that give
me the right to raid Ashtan and kill their guards until they design
Ashtan into exactly how I want it? The answer is no - I don't
particulary like it, but I respect their views. This declaration of
hostility is contrary to our freedom, and I would like to make clear
again that I will not support a changing of the law through what I can
only describe as terrorism though attacks on our city.

I also have to question Ashtan's seemingly double standards. As I
previously mentioned all but one of the people they want are Hashani
citizens - now after making a few enquiries, it appears that if I want
to kill a thief in Ashtan who's an Ashtan citizen, I'm not allow to
under the law. Yet they don't want that to apply to them for us. This,
Ladies and Gentleman is clearly unfair, and I take the line that if
Ashtan changed it's own policy, they would have more of a valid point -
what they have now instead, is hypocritical.

Yes, we are a small state, yes, we do not have as many fighters as some
of the others. But we will NOT be dictated to by the strong-arming of a
large state. I encourage the leadership of Ashtan to see that this
declaration of hostility is unfair, and would like to make clear that
Hashan has no wish for conflict with Ashtan. If you would like to meet
for talks and to assess our positions, I will be more than happy to meet
with you.

We don't ask you to like our laws, we do ask you to respect them.

Lord Typhoon Lagunium.
