Response to your message

On the 8th of Sarapin I attempted to harvest some ginseng from my grove.
I found that there were only 10 ginseng left in my grove. I soon
discovered that you, Accipiter, had harvested the ginseng in my grove
from 50+ down to the Over Harvesting limit of 10. I assumed that you
harvested my grove by mistake as there is an unwritten rule among the
forestals of Sapience. That unwritten rule is to ask permission first
before harvesting from anothers grove.

I therefore wrote you a quick message regarding the harvesting of my
grove. Though I do not have a copy of my original message I can recall
the substance of it. It was something to the effect of Greetings! Please
refrain from harvesting my grove without my permission. If, in the
future, you are in need of herbs please ask and I will be more than
willing to share. I hope you interpret this message in the friendly
manner in which it was written etc. etc. Please note that I asked
politely, offered the services of my grove in the future, and did my
best to make sure that my message was as kind as possible.

This is the response, verbatim, that I received from you:

Message #204 Sent by: Accipiter
8/29/23:02 "I am afraid that with the current lack of herbs to supply
the
harvesting community, the old customs of not harvesting groves have to
be put
aside to cater for the wider customer base of Sapience. I understand if
this is
too much for a poor apprentice druid to comprehend, but as you have not
lived
under the customs of your elders for very long, it will understandably
be far
easier for you to put them aside than those, like me, who have lived
under them
for a century or more."

I feel that your response was arrogant, rude, and threatening. I believe
that your intentions were to silence and intimidate me so you could line
your own pockets. I have now shared with all of Sapience your words so
that they can judge and interpret them for themselves.

You tell me first that there is a current lack of herbs to supply the
people of Sapience. Well, I visited six shops in the cities of Hashan,
Shallam, and Ashtan shortly after receiving your message. Not one of the
shops was out of ginseng. (I have the name/date of the stores if you
need them). Admittedly this is just a small sample of the shops of
Achaea but I feel it does shed doubt on the theory of a shortage of
ginseng.

You state that the old customs are to be put aside. If that is true then
why did you not harvest ginseng from the groves of other forestals? Even
groves within 3-4 rooms of my grove were not harvested by you? Why is
this? I must come to the conclusion that either your statement on the
old customs is incorrect or you only harvest groves of those who are
weaker and/or younger than you.

Finally you begin to tell me that I am poor, young, and apparently
unable to comprehend the concept of supply and demand. I will not argue
that I am poor and young. My age cannot be helped and my monetary worth
is my own choice. However, I do not feel that I am so ignorant that you
have the right push me around. I offered you an olive branch of peace.
You offered me insults.

So, again, I ask you to please refrain from harvesting my grove without
prior permission. I am aware that there is no law stating you have to
abide by my request but the majority of forestals seem to have no
trouble doing it. It is a common courtesy which is easy to follow. I
also again offer the services of my grove if they are needed by you in
the future. Just ask me first next time.

I do not wish to begin a post war and hopefully this will be my first
and only post. I wish you the best of luck in your business endeavors. I
intend no disrespect and have done my best to show you that I have no
anger towards you. I only ask that you show the respect that nearly
every other forestal shows to one another.

Best Regards
