Communalism, and a short apology.

Greetings sapience,
Some of you may have heard me or others advertising the Fellowship of
Achaean Communists (FAC) over the market recently, I would like to
apolgise, it seems my colleagues and I had been struck by a case of
insanity we've all eaten some prickly ash and have come to our senses.
We have renamed ourselves the Achaean Commune. We THOUGHT we were
practicing an economic system that we found somewhere in the darkest
corners of our mind, called Communism, and we also referred to a
capitalism. These were both effects of our insanity, and we apologize.
We also apologise for the use of the word economy, we no longer remember
quite what that was, but it may have been something similair to our
current market. We practice a new type of market system entitled
Communalism, and are strongly opposed to the current market system -
Merchantilism. Please allow me to explain, first we have a short
definition for Merchantilism and Communalism, then we have an
explanation of the Achaean Commune's goals as an organization, then at
the end we have a short summary
-*Terms*-
Communalism - a new market system which stresses the importance of every
individual, not just those with money, power, or the ability to produce
goods. In communalism, it is the governments responsibility to allow its
citizens the maximum freedom, a complete say in its government (which
means free elections every few years), and it must provide for the young
ones which are unable to provide for themselves.
Merchantilism - The current system that is controlled by few
(comparatively to those that have to live under it, that is) and is
ruled by what we at the Achaean Commune have named Presitarians. In
Merchantilism the rich get richer, and the poor have to risk their lives
or degrade themselves to obtain a small amount of wealth. (which
eventually just ends up back in the hands of the Presitarians)
Democracy - It is mine and the leadership of the AC's opinion that a
Council democracy is the best government for Communalism under divine
law. We are, however, open to suggestions.
-*EXPLANATION*-
Are you ever under the impression that something's not quite right with
our government? Like you have no say? Well, here's why - your really
don't have a say. It's quite simple really, except in a very few cases,
your leaders are all the same and you are unable to do much anything
about it. Why is this? It's because they already control everything. A
family can control the government of a city if they get enough people in
office, and once they're there, keeping them there is a simple task. And
how about the market? Well, that's obviously controlled by very few, the
Presitarians. A council, started with the intention of keeping something
safe, preserving it, easily turns into a monopoly, that controls the
very thing it's meant to protect. Or the recently deceased enchantment
treaty, not to speak ill of the magi that put it into place (for many of
them I do in fact admire), but it made it impossible for the poor to
gain enchantments. Herbs, enchantments, weapons, venoms, clothing, even
food. It is incredibly difficult for the young to obtain anything
without risking their lives, or spending hours performing degrading
tasks such as killing rats. (Which I might add is even more degrading
for any Serpent younglings, as they actually have to BITE the rat. At
least think of sanitation guys!)
We here at the AC believe that when the oppressors (Presitarians) begin
controlling everything, nothing changes. The same fights occur, and
recur, and recur, and so on. Things begin to stagnate, and in this
stagnation, the oppressor begins to revel, and grow in power and sway
until noone dares face the oppressor. However, in this stagnation,
Merchantilism is doomed to collapse on itself (Have you compared credit
prices on the credit market between now and about 25 or 30 years ago?).
When Merchantilism fails, Communalism is destined to grow from the
ashes. Merchantilism is nearing ruins everyday, and we here at the AC
would prefer to avoid the whole market collapsing. We would like to
start spreading Communalist ideals now, so nobody has to deal with that
unpleasant experience. So please, join us!
We've been asked, how do you intend to govern? How do you intend to
survive in the realms with these crazy ideals? Heck, some people have
outright told us that Communalism is impossible, that it could never
exist. Well it can, and will. We here at the AC do not forbid our
members to sell services outside of the organization, in fact, we
encourage our members to sell outside of the organization. To do
anything but that WOULD be suicide, until we are the major world order,
we have to be adapt a little bit to merchantilism to survive (The very
reason why merchantilism still survives today, and allows the upper
class oppressors to survive). However, our goal is to have a large
amount of members to help provide services for other members. For
example, if someone needs herbs, and I'm a harvester, I give them the
herbs I need, knowing that they're doing what they can to help the
cause. If he wants to pay me, he can, but he doesn't have to.
Keep in mind however, we are not around to just give you free stuff.
-*Summary*-
In summary, we here at the AC believe that the Presists are controlling
the economy and government, and very little can be done about it without
gathering a large enough self sufficient group that can just, well,
ignore them until they have to adapt to OUR ways. In this new world
order, everyone will be equal, and we would be ruled by a council,
elected of course, for we believe this is the best form of government
allowed by divine law.
If you are interested in joining our ranks, then you should contact Me
(Griffinus), Hermaldo, Rebeca, or Groton. You can even talk to us just
to learn a bit more about us.
Cheers!
