With the recent shift in emphasis from guilds to class, it seems
inevitable, though unfortunate, that some should come to regard their
guild as a disposable resource - something to be entered into and left
at a whim, with little thought as to personal loyalty or commitment to
that guild's ideals. Perhaps new apprentices to a guild fail to realise
that in answering their questions, or offering training, its members are
dedicating a substantial amount of time and effort to their
development... or perhaps they simply do not care. Whatever the case, it
would seem a matter of sheer common courtesy to at least thank the guild
for its time before quitting, to take a moment to explain that, although
appreciative of the help provided, one's interests lie elsewhere.

Perhaps, if thinking of leaving your guild, it's worth taking the time
to memorise the following: "Hi, thanks for all the help you've given
me... however I've decided to quit the guild, and just wanted to let you
all know". Believe me when I say that, however daunting, this approach
will at least garner you some degree of respect from your former
guildmates.

Treat others with the respect you would have them show in return.

Thanks for reading.
