In regards to all of your questions,

It is like swatting that annoying insect that insists on buzzing around
your food, and though it doesn't actually touch your food, it just knows
that the closer it gets and the longer it stays, the more you want to
kill it. It doesn't matter whether or not this insect can pray and
return to life.
It doesn't matter if it is a temple or a path to a temple, a real
diplomat seeking peace wouldn't try to support setting up a fortress
there.

A real diplomat seeking peace wouldn't support building a military
fortress anywhere on land that you lay no right or claim to..
