To Arcane Cartographer Sucatraps Jinx-Xanatov,
My body double was in constant contact with me throughout
the duration of the event. I am not aware of any answers
he gave that were amiss.
I can try to reiterate in brief.
We hope that by our example that some Achaeans will find
benefit in our view of civilisation. In a similar manner,
we may find benefit from elements of your culture. We can
accomplish this by beneficial exchanges of various sorts,
most of which I am sure you can imagine.
You ask if we wish Achaean subject to Vertani rule.
I do think that any increase in unity at all would be a
very good thing here, given the disastrous disunity now
present. Perhaps you will provide it for yourselves.
Perhaps we will all combine in a larger group of some
kind. Perhaps some other group or power will be in
the ascendance. Who can say? I think it's natural for
us each to prefer our own ways, and so I have a natural
preference for Vertani rule, as I suspect most of you
do for your own. I think we can find a way to work
through that.
Well, you can and you cannot visit our world. As you
may already know, some of your people already have
visited Vertan, in a very limited sense. As our portal
first opened, a few intrepid explorers entered and
were, in a very limited way, on Vertan. I do not
understand the science of it. No, not at all. So I
cannot explain much further. For some reason, the
'anchor' room (for lack of a better name) on Vertan
seems habitable to your people, though I am assured
that anything beyond is not. Perhaps it is because
the stabilising influences required to project the
portal somehow protect those within its anchor rooms.
But this is pure speculation on my part. I am not
sure that our scientists know either!
I do not know about our mages' use of crystalism,
but I have never heard the term used. Then again, I
am no mage. Of those who I've asked, they say they
know nothing of this crystalism, but found something
of interest in some sort of huge crystal they visited.
This was an interest purely academic, which they say
they hope to pursue when exchanges on this level
become again possible. There is no drawing of
resources of which I have any knowledge at all,
from your plane to ours.
I believe I have already addressed the question of
rebuilding in an earlier post.
You are welcome. Thank you for your patience.
Penned by my hand on the 7th of Miraman, in the year 386 AF.
