A missive to the Vertani

Written by: Elysian Priestess, Keturah Sa'Rithven-Lighthawk

From the time of your entrance into our societies, you have continuously
told us of your empire, and how you wished to civilize us and bring us
within its fold. As you have your ways, we have ours. The actions that
you have shown, the force with which you not only stand to "protect" but
also to conquer is evident to anyone who looks at what you have done.
Whether you have found justification in your actions based upon the
reaction of those of our land towards you at the beginning or if you
have some scheme which has not been yet made apparent to us is of no
relevance. The Holy Church of Achaea is based upon the teachings of the
Divine in our past that have not only shown us wisdom but also a way of
life that we choose to follow. Your actions are in direct opposition to
many of our beliefs. You called it the destruction of a few buildings,
we all it the annihilation of the town. You call our deaths
insignificant in comparison to yours. We hold life, all life in
reverence. You would oppress where we would set free.

Based upon these differences between our philosophical views, we condemn
your actions in our lands. You might consider yourselves visitors, if so
you have not been welcomed by us. You might consider yourselves
protectors and even saviors of villages but your actions have proven
otherwise.

It is our responsibility to not only protect ourselves and defend
against further actions towards the innocents of the lands, as well as
to try to thwart any further damage to the land that we call home.

We have not invited you to be part of our society, we have not welcomed
you and your fortresses and your soldiers to be part of our lands. We
choose not to accept your offers of peace because the terms of what you
consider peace are not those that we can find compromise and still
follow our beliefs. If you truly wish peace, remove your fortresses from
our lands, remove your soldiers from our villages, remove any signs of
force and then perhaps we can look at starting anew.

Keturah Sa'Rithven
Archprelate of The Holy Church of Achaea

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Miraman, in the year 386 AF.
