I am a follower of the Skylord, Vastar, a firm supporter of His realm of
Freedom and Purpose. By our beliefs, all are free to do what they
believe they must to achieve their goals, all are free to act as they
must to walk the path they choose. His realm is Freedom, but it is not
Anarchy. By our beliefs, you are free to go where you wish, explore what
you wish, learn what you wish. As long as you are truly acting towards
your goals, that is. Acting without cause, acting against your own
cause, or acting against the causes of others because you can - these
are looked down upon.
You say you came here to explore, and that certainly seems true. Though
your people acted rather rudely to us from what I saw, you did not
interfere in our goals and pursuits as you did so. But also, you did not
speak to us, you did not ask us to help in your exploring. You went
about, looking at our defences and temples, as if we did not exist. Your
people also said they came here to trade. We asked to trade, spoke to
your merchants, and we were told we had nothing worth trading. Still, we
were told you continued to want to trade with us. We were also told you
wanted to share knowledge with us. We gave knowledge to you, telling you
of our world, and in return, you refused to tell us more than tidbits
about yours. You say you came here and were appaled by our lack of
unity, by our violence, and that you wished to teach us of your All, or
your unity, yet you then hosted a 'Game of the Eyes,' pitting our cities
against one another in a violent act of disharmony. You say you came to
learn of us, and you did, yet time and again you acted in ignorance of
our ways, disrupting our lives, violating social norms that we have had
for generations. But still, this is fine - you are free to do all of
these things. But the question remains - why?
Why have you come here? If it is for the reasons you say, then why have
you time and again acted counter to them? Is it Anarchy, and not
Freedom, that you express in your actions? Or do you have some ulterior
motives that you will not tell us about? You have told us very little
about yourselves in the past to begin with - just justifications for
your actions.
I am not saying that any side is 'morally right' in this conflict. That
is not for me to say. But I am saying that all sides are free to act as
they wish, provided they are acting in pursuit of some end. Those who
slaughtered the Vertani, many of them were acting in pursuit of a cause,
and that cause is Achaea. Many acted to secure their freedom in the
future, but in doing so, they have denied their prey forever of purpose
and freedom. Your people devestated one of our oldest villages, a
village that has stood for a thousand years as a symbol of unity and
peace. You did this for a reason - vengeance against the loss of your
Overlord, but in the long run, does this serve a purpose? Alienating
many of those who called you friend?
What -is- your purpose here? Without knowing the answer to this simple
question, we can only assume the worst, especially after your actions
have brought about the non-consentual permanent death of -our- people
for the first time in... Well, the first time I have ever heard of. Many
of us are angry, and with cause, and we act to futher our cause which is
life and freedom. To what end do you and yours act?
