In light of any confusion that may be had, I throw my lot in with
Verrucht and Latus and renounce my friendship with the Vertani as I
cannot abide such blatant acts of violence from those who are my
friends.

And before you begin to lecture me about the inhabitants of this land
who slaughter innocents, I am well aware and I do not call them friends,
either. I do not call them friends for the same reason I no longer call
you friends, for they kill wantonly with no regard for anyone or
anything but themselves and their purposes.
