Greetings, Ixidor.
I have read your pleas to the cities of Ashtan and Mhaldor, as well as
your appeal to the younger Mhaldorian citizens. I understand that you
may take a great deal of pride in the fact that the Vertani have chosen
to call you "Friend", yet this instills in you no inherent ability to
sway the resolve of the City of Evil. Though I do not presume to speak
for the city of Ashtan, I would venture to say that the same holds true.
I have done the Vertani the courtesy of speaking with them myself. If
the Vertani tire of their generals, commanders, infantry, cavalry and
magi being slaughtered by Mhaldorian warriors, then let the Diplomat
Hingar, or Overlord Estan extend me the same courtesy and say as much.
The city of Mhaldor has no desire to conduct its policies through a
mouthpiece.
You make several assertions during the course of your writings that I
found to be somewhat amusing, the first of which is that the city of
Mhaldor grows weary of this war with the Vertani. I can assure you,
Ixidor, that Mhaldor not only has not grown weary of the conflict, but
has welcomed the opportunity to bathe in the rivers of blood drawn forth
from the lifeless carcasses of the Vertani invaders. While each Vertani
that is forced to relinquish his tenuous grasp on life will eventually
be little more than so much dust under the boot of the Mhaldorian that
destroyed him, those of Mhaldor that are slain will rise up once more,
their determination redoubled, to commence the slaughter anew. The
Vertani cannot triumph in a war of attrition against the cities of
Ashtan and Mhaldor, regardless of how many thousands of warriors they
have at their command. That is a simple fact of logistics.
You also state that The Malevolent One showed "compassion" to the city
of Mhaldor in events that transpired before your birth: the Mhaldorian
End of Days. To say that Lord Sartan "forgave" the city of Mhaldor would
imply that the failings of Mhaldor were mitigated, and that The
Malevolent One had granted His pardon for Mhaldor's inability to meet
His expectations during the month of Sarapin. Is it "compassion" on the
part of a gaoler when a criminal's sentence has reached its conclusion,
and the criminal is free to go? Is it "forgiveness" when a man is
flogged for a misdeed, and the whipping comes to an end? Certainly not.
The Malevolent One sent forth His daemons to possess the citizens of
Mhaldor, who were destroyed and sacrificed unto Him. Moghedu was purged
and the Essence of the Mhuns within was sacrificed unto Him. Lord Sartan
gathered together seven within His altar, purging them with fire and
purifying them with pain, until their lives ended and were sacrificed
unto Him. The Malevolent One was satisfied. The city of Mhaldor was free
to go, as it were.
You say that the city of Mhaldor should show compassion for her younger
citizens, to "nurture" them until they are "strong enough in Evil". I do
not believe it is even necessary for me to relay the dissimilarity
between this view and the teachings of The Malevolent One. Any
Mhaldorian that feels he must be nurtured and coddled, his fragile
inner-self encouraged to blossom in a loving environment in which his
delicate sensibilities are not offended so that he might realise his
potential to become "strong enough in Evil" is more than welcome to
express this to me at his earliest convenience.
To the Vertani, though more specifically Diplomat Hingar and Overlord
Estan, I await your word that you wish the slaughter to cease.
Respectfully,
Khoraji,
