Hingar,
I've walked these lands for close to ninety years. In my time I've seen
many a posting to this Public forum; many banalities, many heartfelt
apologies, a few declarations of war, scads of sarcasm, and the rare
words of the Divine imparted to Their Brethren or perhaps to us mortals.
I made a vow to myself I would not post here because I really felt that
there is nothing that can be said someone else won't say better or ten
times over.
Your post (13863) directed to my Guildmate spurred my pen. You are an
alien race with unknown motives and agenda in our lands. These lands I
call 'ours' is not ruled by a sovereign entity but is unfortunately
splintered by many different ideologies and ethos. We as mortals are
loosely bound by the fact we breathe the same air and maybe pass in the
same forests. To hear you implicitly threaten something that is
considered a sacred and time-honoured tradition within the circles of
friendships I occupy give me cause to see you as a threat.
I am not a Hunter (the capitalisation is intentional, for your race to
further ponder) and I speak only for myself. It is common knowledge
amongst those that are of Sapience that your race (the Vertani) worship
or pay homage to the All. You have no cause or right to cast aspersions
on something you do not understand one iota. I realise your interactions
with some of us has been downright treacherous but that is not the
common will of those that reside in Sapience, yet. In fact, I am someone
since your portal-borne arrival that has yearned for the chance to meet
your race, speak with you face to face, lay Druid to lay Vertani. I
respectfully and willingly learned your language from your priest in the
Temple of the Logos, to help alleviate our barriers of communication.
The few interactions I had with your race were bluntly ignored. That's
all right; I'm considerate enough to be patient and bide my time to
perhaps raise a mug of beverage in toast to you.
It is nigh time you, Hingar, learn your place, as an individual and as a
race, your place in our lands. Many of us wish no hostilies, some even
wish to help you in your explorations and learn more about what our
world has to offer you and yours. We are smallings only in stature; we
can hold our own to your race as intellectuals and leaders, as warriors
and spiritualists. If you give Sapience a reason to rebel against your
existence, we will do everything in our bodies, with every erg of our
beings to rid your presence from here.
Achaeans, heed Hingar's words and those of other Vertani; we are very
fractured and self-serving in so many ways. If Hingar, whom speaks for
his overlord and race, means more than idle threats he writes then it's
the will of the Vertani to treat us not as equals but as lesser beings.
I despise seeing my friend and compatriot spoken to like a child who's
being berated for playing a fun game of freezetag. I earnestly ask
everyone of you to consider setting aside personal and organisational
differences in the event that we are truly being threatened by an alien
race. I pray to the Gods I am wrong in this feeling about the Vertani.
Nature first, always,
