Dear Hingar, House Kortul diplomat,

I write this to you sir, as to present an objective view, as I see it,
of the current situation. Though before I continue, I shall give you my
personal assurance that these opinions listed are those of myself, and
not on the behalf of any organization I may be a part of. Thus, please
do not retaliate against any innocent creatures, if my words do offend
you, as they are undeserving of such an untimely demise.

Since the arrival of the Vertani I have often spoken amongst my private
circle of friends and minds regarding your kind and its intentions. I
have often 'stood up' for your kind, defending against the paranoia and
conspiracy theories that spreading like a virus amongst the collective
mind of my fellows. I have always believed in careful analysis and
review of a situation, or a peaple, before passing judgement. I am also
Ashtani. Yet I chose to give you an oppurtunity to reveal yourself as
benevolent, or malicious.

Szanthax's actions, and posts, were of his own accord and free will, as
were Xtassy's. Your people's decision to attack and slay my citymates,
of which the majority had retained their innocence towards you until you
had forced them into armed defense. This is a clear representation of
the most basic principle of freedom. The choices of Szanthax and Xtassy
resulted in the suffering of their fellows, as your choice to act in the
most undiplomatic manner I have seen from all your race, has resulted in
further racism against your people amongst the populace of Achaea. Your
actions, have as well brought another enemy knocking upon your 'door'
within our realm. Suffice it to say, a series of most unfortunate events
has brought us to stand at odds.

Either way, I am aware that you are alien to our plane, and thus
unaccustomed to our traditions and manneurisms. We too, are alien to
your customs (of which I truly wish your kind would be more forthcoming
about). It is understandable that disputes and small factions of
violence will result due to our alien nature towards each other.
However...

Hingar, you are a Diplomat. Tradition here, is that a diplomat attempts
to maintain a working relation with foreign factions through an attempt
at facilitating each others needs while simultaneously accepting the
differences of culture. I diplomat, ultimately should strive for peace.
You may claim that you initially did strive for peace, by attempting to
force our government into punishing Szanthax for his actions by removing
him from the city, or else. Not very diplomatic. Nor do I see any
Achaean city impulsively thrusting one of its members into harms way
simply because another alien faction would dictate such to avoid
potential war. Violence is a way to accomplish an end, but there are
other more effective ways and I feel perhaps the Vertani people would
receive less dissonance from the Achaean people if they were more
inclined to attempt peaceful -open- relationships. This meaning that
rather than hiding as much about yourselves from us while attempting to
learn all about our ways, striving for a more even exchange of
information.

Either way, these are simply my opinions regarding a few things.
Ultimately I have written this post to ask you why you feel justified in
harming innocent bystanders in retaliation to the action of two people?
Why did you not attempt to privately discuss this matter with our
leadership rather than making a direct public threat? I question if you
are as 'peaceful' of a people as you profess to be. I question now your
motives. I question your purpose and worst of all I question your
ability to maintain an honourable and just image. I have no need nor
will to war nor to interact with your people. However your people have
dragged me into this by attempting to harm me and my citymates. I hope
you will make an attempt at more peaceful diplomacy. If not, I will,
though I do not wish to, begin working on employing my own knowledge of
the elements to defend myself and my people, as vehemently as you appear
to defend yours.
