Misunderstandings

Greetings, Tommy.
I understand quite well that the city of Shallam and the Church of
Achaea are not the same entity. However, throughout the selection of
quotes I provided, such as those referencing each particular Guild's
dedication to supporting the Church and the Codex and the like, I gave
evidence that the two are tightly-knit, which cannot be denied. What you
apparently misunderstand in your response, of which the majority appears
to be, "The Church and Shallam are not the same" and "Justice does not
equal violence", is the fact that I furnished quotes such as, "The
purpose of the Paladins is to uphold the teachings of the Church". This
does not state that Paladins who are members of the Church are
responsible for upholding the Church's teachings, nor does it state that
Paladins may occasionally defend the Church's principles if they are
inclined to do so. The same goes for the following quote: "The Priests,
as well as the rest of the Church, base their beliefs on both the sacred
text named 'The Holy Codex'." You state that this only applies to the
Church, but quite obviously, it does not, as the Priests are
specifically mentioned alongside the Church as basing their beliefs on
The Holy Codex.
Next you insist that violence is not a necessary course of action. It
certainly is not necessary, though the quotes I give are certainly
conducive to that way of thinking. I simply fail to see how the city of
Shallam can repeatedly claim that there is no gain in a war, when the
repeated rescue efforts and the suffering of Ylniri can be immediately
halted by the declaration of war. According to the evidence I have
provided, a recourse that is encouraged by the principles upon which the
Guilds of Shallam and the Church are based. Defending the innocent,
standing up for one's fellows, eliminating evil and, aye, "upholding the
Church's teachings".
I bid you to recall above all that while we are discussing semantics,
Ylniri still is not reunited with those that care about her. That is the
most important thing, is it not?
Respectfully,
