How much do you really know about Love and Beauty?

Often times we as mortals tend to hear or perceive something in one way
and then believe it to be absolute truth for eras to come. However
normal it is for us to do it, it truly is but a mortal flaw. You cannot
claim to know something as absolute truth unless you have studied and
researched it and spoken to the source, in many cases. Lady Selene's
Beloved have heard several tales regarding our Lady's realms of Love and
Beauty that are not completely true. The following is a list of seven
statements, some true, some false, that should help to set the record
straight. While these only begin to scratch the surface of understanding
Her realms, we hope that you find them enlightening. If you have any
questions regarding our Lady's realms, please feel free to ask any of
Her teachers. More information can be found in the Beholders of Beauty
clan, as well. Membership is granted to any non-novices over level
forty, whether you are seeking to simply learn or to become a member of
Her order. Remember, knowledge is a truly beautiful thing!
"Beauty is only skin deep" Complete fiction. If beauty is in everything,
from things mortals can't comprehend to simpler grasping ideas, then
beauty is not just skin deep. Beauty comes from within. It comes from
the need to seek out the understanding of "why is there beauty". It's
beyond those actions, persons, objects that we discover a higher
understanding, which inevitably creates love and beauty. Beauty isn't
just found for something being seen as "pretty" either. To understand,
means to observe, using all of the senses possible that allows us to
take in information. If beauty was only skin deep then we are
prohibiting ourselves from using those abilities that endorse the
investigation of ourselves and not to just rely on sight alone.
"Love that means the most is the love that sees the flaws in people and
realizes that the flaws are the part of those people you love the most."
Fact, to some. If you love someone, you love someone for who they are,
and everything they are, not just their looks, or their best qualities.
If you are not accepting something about someone, then you do not love
-them- you only love an idea you have of them. You don't have to like
it, but you can't ignore it or pretend you can change it.
"The most important type of love is between two lovers." False. The most
important love, to Lady Selene and Her Beloved, is that of self-love.
Without love for oneself, one cannot manage to love others as well. It
is preached as the first step to understanding the realm of Love.
Self-love is not only the most important step, but the hardest as well,
for one must overcome all of their own shortcomings and believe them to
be beautiful.
"Beauty can only be found in things that are good." Oh, this one is so
untrue! Beauty has manifested itself into every ounce of everything in
this world. Whether it be "evil" or "good," if it exists, it has beauty.
True, the "good" things are easier to find beauty in as we mortals tend
to look at that which we can accept and what we like as being beautiful.
However, there is beauty in something "evil" if you look deep enough.
Finding something beautiful is not the same as accepting its principles.
"Hate is a bad emotion." Wrong. Hate is simply a part of love. One
cannot hate something without first having some sort of love for it.
Hate is a mortal emotion that occurs naturally. While loving others is
important, it does not mean that you should suppress any other feelings
that may conflict with it. All emotions are beautiful and healthy, even
murderous rage. It is when you lose control of that emotion and it gains
control over you that it is a 'bad' thing. It is not healthy to allow
one feeling to completely overtake your body.
"Accepting there is beauty in everything is the same as seeing it." Not
quite true. Accepting that there is beauty in everything is an important
step along the way to seeing the beauty in everything. If you physically
see and comprehend the specific beauty in something, then you have first
accepted that there is beauty in it and then you have seen it. However,
if you see something and you cannot physically identify the specific
beauty of it, then you have acknowledged that it has beauty, but that
you yourself cannot see it.
"Love has no place in Mhaldor." While about ninety percent of Mhaldor
would like to believe that this is true, it is not. There is -much- love
and beauty in Mhaldor. There is honour and strength, bloodlust and
self-discipline. The list goes on and on. Mhaldorians love their Lord
and His Seven Truths of Evil. Devotion and faith to something are truly
beautiful attributes. (Apologies to any who may take offense to this
explanation and statement, however it is something that has been of much
debate. Lady Selene's Beloved have the utmost respect for each and every
Divine and mortal.)
With love,
The Beloved
