Greetings all. By now, many players have left Achaea. This was
always expected by us, and planned for. While we are sad to see
many of the players go, there are a number of players we (and you
I'd imagine) are quite happy to see go.
Those who choose to stay will tend to be players who are both more
mature and who are more dedicated. I do not mean to suggest,
incidentally, that everyone who leaves is immature or not dedicated.
However, the fact remains that those who can afford to pay tend to
have an older age irl, and tend not to be of the temper-tantrum
throwing variety we all know and hate.
What I ask of those of you who enjoy Achaea, but are worried about
the players leaving is this: Stay and see what happens to Achaea.
Leaving becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you say "well, if
so-and-so leaves, then so am I" then what happens is you cause
someone else to say the same thing, etc etc.
I uderstand that some of you play Achaea primarily for the people
you've met here, but consider that you could have met people on
any mud. After all, no matter how bad a mud is, there will still
be people there. You did not, however, go somewhere else to meet
people. You stayed here. Presumably, this means you enjoy Achaea.
When Achaea begins to earn more money, we intend on increasing
our advertising drastically in order to bring in new players.
We're going to start targetting more mature audiences, instead of
solely the mudconnector (which is the only place we advertise now)
in order to target an audience that is more generally capable of paying.
In summary then, what I'm basically saying is that I presume
you played Achaea not only for the specific other people that
played here (again, if that was the case, you could have just left
long ago) but because you like Achaea as a game. If you that's true,
then I ask that you put some trust in me, Daedalus, and the rest of
the Gods, and believe that we are more than capable of handling
this expected exodus of players.
Achaea will grow and it will get better and better with every
addition to the land.
