Recruiting vs. Posturing

Dear Followers of Good and Evil,
I am not one of you, nor do I consider myself an enemy of either
ideology. Sometimes, I wonder if I would have been if I had the fortune
to be as educated about your points of view as I am now. As a scholar, I
consider myself fairly well-versed in the philosophies of both sides,
and I draw from many interviews and texts when I say what I am about to
say.
It is important that both sides consider their purpose in these lands.
Perhaps it is merely to grind the other side to dust, but from what I've
seen, that's not it at all. Evil speaks about its drive to improve this
world, and so does Good. I wonder if any who have posted recently have
truly considered those noble goals. Am I saying that it is time for both
sides to shake hands, apologize, and become bedfellows? I am not, and I
sincerely doubt that day will ever come. Rather, I ask you to consider
what actions truly benefit those causes. Jibes and public ranting are
unbefitting for those of you who would seek to swell your ranks. Those
who fight for Evil may scoff at me for saying that, telling me that it
only drives away the weak, but I do not think this is the case. Rather,
by posturing so visibly, you only attract the weak who would seek
shelter under those more powerful and throw stones from the rear while
you lead the charge.
The question I'm asking is, why do you rise (or sink) to each other's
taunts? Aren't you better than that? Of course, that question could be
asked of both sides, it would seem that there are few who would claim
equality with the opposite belief. Don't you seek to present a better
face to the adventurers and Divine of Achaea? Speaking of the Divine,
how do these base insults glorify those who made you what you are today?
Of course you wish to denounce and weaken the other side, but many of
the comments I've seen only succeed in making this grand conflict look
like two Jesters crafting a magnificent satire. If it takes a reason to
become noble (whether that means following the Seven Truths or the
Codex), to rise above your enemy in stature and grace, then think of the
Divine and the novices who are considering lending their future aide to
you.
I don't mean to say that both sides are rotten through and through. I've
met many shining examples of Good and Evil, and I've been impressed by
both. Regardless, they are often too quickly forgotten in this deluge of
nonsense that greets all of Achaea on the news boards. I can only hope
that someday, they will be the rule, not the exception.
Of course, my opinions are my own and do not represent those of either
my city, family, clan(s), or guild.
Be well, Sapience,
