Debate on the Seven Truths

What I have seen as a common thread throughout any discussions regarding
Good or Evil is that Mhaldorians show respect for those who have
differing beliefs. Certainly there will always be the handful who resort
to name calling and insults but these are dealt with severely by
Mhaldor's leaders. Predominantly through these discussions I see that
Mhaldorians who have posted have shown dignity and respect, and have
spoken of their thoughts on Good versus Evil - not Shallam versus
Mhaldor, nor the rest of the world versus Mhaldor.

On the other hand I have seen mostly disdain for Mhaldorians, a personal
dislike, not even open minds looking at the Seven Truths and considering
them as what they are - a clearly defined set of guidelines for the
followers of Lord Sartan to adhere to. The fact that Mhaldor has these
rules shows the discipline and organisation that allows followers of
Evil to remain focussed and intent on their goals and beliefs. The fact
that Mhaldorians wish to bring the word of the Lord to the public shows
their zeal and conviction in their beliefs, and their faith in the
Malevolent One.

Those who are insulting Mhaldor and degrading the Seven Truths seem
intent on undermining those beliefs and discipline and faith. I fail to
see the purpose of this. Unless there is a strong argument against the
Seven Truths - which I have yet to see - then what is the point in
arguing or posting at all? The Truths are exactly that - TRUTHS - which
is why so far the only argument against them has been in the form of
insults to Mhaldor, personal attacks on her citizens and even Our Lord,
and pointless posts that cause confusion merely in the reading of them.
Nowhere have I seen anyone take each of the Seven Truths and prove them
wrong.

Arguing that we kill innocents is inane. Innocence is a perception. Are
the rest of you guilt free? I have seen Priests and Paladins kill goblin
children. Are they less innocent than mhun children? In fact, mhun
children were so well guarded until recently, that Mhaldorians were
unable to kill them, which indicates to me that there have been far more
slaughterings of goblin children over the years. When does a child lose
its innocence? When it is born into a race of which it has no control?
Ridiculous.

There will always be these kinds of debates over varying sets of
beliefs. However, as I do every day, once again I feel pride in my city
and fellow citizens because they debate with intelligence, dignity and
respect. Another sign of the effectiveness of the Seven Truths.

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Phaestian, in the year 374 AF.
