The thought of the day about where to keep the exit

Ok, I've received messages about my WTotD about leaving the Sun or the
exit to your back. Let me clarify some viewpoints ....

When in a war setting, you want the sun to your back. This can blind the
enemy, causing them to make mistakes. Also, because the true warrior
rides to the front of the battle, in a war setting, there is no
opportunity to be "snuk up on" from the exit, because your commrades
will be behind you.

However, the single warrior, assassin, or thief, should not have the
door or exit to his back, unless he is absolutely sure all threats from
that direction have been neutralized. The assassin and thief tend to
focus their energy on their victim, so the threats beyond the exit are
rarely neutralized. In such a case, that type of warrior would want to
"slice the pie"

This refers to the act of sneaking up on the door at an angle very close
to the door's frame, minimizing exposure to the enemy on the other side
of the door. After surveying the inside of the room, and slipping
through the door, the thief, or assassin, should creep alongside the
wall while on the inside, leaving the exit within their vision. By
having your back to a wall, you will not be caught off guard, and you
will maintain a direct line of sight to your escape route.
