Do not interfere with an army that is returning home. When you surround
an army, leave an outlet free. Do not press a desperate foe too hard.

People fight most fiercely when they are backed into a corner. As I have
said before, war is a battle not only of strength, but of will. Let your
enemies return home to spread news of their defeat. Needless slaughter
is not the path to glory.
