You state " However, a shrine in and of itself is not a threat to the
forest, nor does it harm the forest. "
However, the Logos has stated time and again that Shrines are weapons.
Do they harm the forest? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on your definition of
harm. Does your shrine grow in the form of a Tree, like Lady Demeter's,
or are they instead an object that the floor of the forest must be
desecrated in order to be placed?
Can the shrines be used against defenders of the forest? Again, a
definate yes. Worldburn attacks through grace to any enemy. How would
you feel if you were sitting in your home one day and suddenly were
slain because a weapon just happened to be sitting nearby and was
activated? No reason for the death, except maybe someone enemied you to
the order for 'fun' perhaps. You forget, dear Starrsong, that orders do
not need a reason to enemy.
"You do not however have the right to say who may place a shrine where.
You do have the right, that should you find the shrine a threat, or even
dislike it, as an individual or a collection of invidiuals, you may
remove the shrine."
Perhaps we do, perhaps we don't. Our charter, approved by the Garden,
says we can. If you will also notice, unless you harm nature,
'permission to place shrines in the forest shallbe freely granted'. Last
I heard, your beloved Lorielan wasn't deemed a threat to Nature, despite
Her expressed dislike for the Green Lady. The Church and the Forests
have always enjoyed a cordial relationship, dating back to the days of
Mother Gaia patroning the Church.
"You do not own the forest. You do not own the land it is grown in, nor
the land around it. You do not own any part of it."
You're right, of course. We don't own the forest, we merely care for it
and oversee that the guidelines set forth within our Charter are obeyed.
We do not control who imprints where. We cannot turn our defenses
against just anyone because we feel like it, like Mhaldor can. We can't
impose martial law.
"The forests of Sapience are massive and stretch from sea to sea. To
have some ideality that you own and control the goingons within these
boundries is insane."
The Forests of Sapience actually comprise of less then 10% of the total
land area of Sapience. It is a massive area, but there is also a lot of
us. We patrol the areas, we see the shrines, we know if they are
approved or not.
I am perhaps most confused as to why you spoke out against this,
Starrsong. I've known you for many, many years, and you have never
expressed a dislike for the Forests or our Laws. You are married to a
Sentinel and an Heirophant of Oakstone. I can't fathom what's going on
in your mind right now, but it completely boggles me.
