Ashtan-
For 75 years I served you. For 75 years I protected you. For 75 years, I
was one of the people who stood proudly as a citizen of Ashtan.
Today, I was enemied for a crime I did not commit. Today, I was betrayed
by that which I had served more than half my life to protect. I was
enemied, according to your Minister of Security, under the following: "I
had no evidence but a report, and when it was reported I did what I
could to see if I could gather any evidence. I couldn't." I was enemied
very shortly thereafter. Without a witness, without any evidence,
without any proof - I am pinned to the smudging of a totem.
I've been told I have the option to contest this decision and be granted
a tribunal. Guilty until proven innocent? I will not contest a grudge; I
will not contest a hatred; I will not contest the decision that has
brought such a weight upon heart - for it is obvious that this decision
was needed to enlighten me as to the truth of that which I once swore my
life to.
Skarash once asked me if I believed there were any strong weaknesses in
Ashtan. It saddens me how much that answer has changed.
