and Diamondesce also

Good Jera to you both.

First off, I need to express my surprise at Diamondesce's reaction
to whatever replies to this subject she interpreted as being those
of Cyrene. Although the post offered by one of our guild's novices
has nothing to do with any sort of official repsonse from our city
or guild (just as mine doesn't), since you, Diamondesce, chose to
react to it as if it in fact did, I'll go along with you on it. What I
am
surprised about though is the fact that after Hatori explicitely called
for Cyrene's reflection on the subject of Lord Thoth's image in that
city, you attack Cyrene for giving just that reflection. This, coupled
with the fact that Cyrene hasn't really reflected on anything yet, I
find surprising.

Secondly, although I do not intend to give any lectures on the subject
of Death, Lord Thoth, His followers, or anything from that general
field, as this field is far from my regular areas of experties (for
reasons so kindly but hastily outlined by Diamondesce), I still wish
to reflect upon the general ideas that Hatori's arguments involve
and revolve around.

In your post, Hatori, you utilize an old argument that always seems
to follow the same path: since phenomenon X serves a certain purpose
it must be good, since it is good it must be embraced and accepted
as such. This is no more true than stating that a cheated husband is
in fact a Satyr, since he is also decorated with horns. The key concept
that is being mistreated in the latter argument is "horns". The one in
the former is "good". As was stated a long time ago by Lord Sarapis -
"Good" has nothing to do with being usefull, it is a concept embodied
in specific Divinities and their respective realms. Therefore, if Death
is "Good" in your own words, then why exactly is it celebrated in
Mhaldor? Fact of the matter is that everything has its purpose - Death
does, Evil does also, so does Good and Darkness. If something didn't
have a purpose then it wouldn't exist, since the creator of our world
would probably not allow anything useless to float around. However,
simply serving some purpose isn't in itself a reason for embracing
whatever it is. By serving Death you are making your own choice, I
don't force you into serving anything else, nor do I ask you "why don't
you embrace God X or Goddess Y when they both are highly usefull to
our world and we couldn't live without them". So what makes you think
that you have any right to demand such answers from me in such an
imperative tone of voice? Whatever it might be, you are mistaken about
its validity.

Algiz protect you and Uruz line your path,
