Terms of endearment.

Citizens of Sapience,

As some of you may have noticed, I've grown old here in Achaea. I've
long since formed my beliefs on many subjects and most of them don't
seem likely to change anytime soon. In the interest of saving my breath,
I'm going to post here so I have a convenient place to refer people to
when necessary.

Topic 1 - Combat:
A common term throughout the lands seems to be the use of the word
'whoring'. While I'm familiar with the term as pertains to harlots and
the like, I feel that it takes on an entirely different definition when
applied to an individual's tactics in combat. In my own experience, I've
heard 'axe-whore', 'trip-whore', 'sting-whore', 'traps-whore',
'thornspray-whore' and a fair number of others. In light of this
persistent use of a term that I don't believe anyone truly understands,
I offer this definition: whore (hor') n. <derogatory> Any combattant and
or/opponent that utilizes a skill or tactic that I am unable to cope
with -- used primarily in a childish attempt to get said opponent to
change the aforementioned tactic.

Topic 2 - Arena FFAs
In the scroll pertaining to freeforalls (help freeforall), the scroll
specifically refers to doing anything necessary in order to secure a
victory. Last person standing wins. Long ago, when I was one of those
who were mid-range in terms of might, artifacts and combat prowess, I
extolled the citizens of Achaea to unite and band together to allow for
other people to visit the victory platform (see public news 9713).
Teaming for this end is an acceptable tactic in my eyes, and it comes
off as rather whiny to complain about being teamed in an event where
teaming is specifically acceptable. I don't fight fair outside of the
arena, so there should be no expectation that I'll suddenly do so inside
the arena. I don't particularly enjoy killing, but I do so when
necessary. And when it's necessary, I fight to -win-. Arena combat is
only a tool for me to improve my abilities outside the arena, and I
place little credence in its measure of capable combatants.

Topic 3 - Vials and refills
I've said it many times before and I'll restate it here now. I rarely
charge Oakstone minimums, I will offer over market when I have things
for sale, but when I don't offer, it means I'm busy doing other things.

If you've read this far, you've either got too much time on your hands
or you're a glutton for punishment. Either way, I hope this clears up a
few things. Cheers.
