I'm not quite sure what you meant by your post. If your gripe is with
use of forestal powers for personal aims in general, there may be some
cogent arguments to make - but you did not make them. If your gripe is
with totems guarding Groves, you might want to argue with those
Grove-tenders that enemied you instead.

Conservationism has nothing to do with assidiously protecting every
individual living being. Everything that lives dies, including me
eventually, to make way for new life. There is nothing unnatural about
wearing leather clothes, eating plants or meat, consuming picked and
dried herbs, or indeed having totems cut from wood - as long as the
population or species itself remains unthreatened.

So, unless you can point me to a former forest that has been razed to
the ground by totem-toting Druids and Sylvans, you may wish to other
lines of reasoning.
