The answer to the stones riddle was as follows:
The stones weigh 1 pound, 3 pounds, 9 pounds
and 27 pounds. This totals up to 40 lbs.
They can be used in combination with eachother
on both sides of the scale to come up with any
counterweight 1-40 lbs.

The answer to the horse riddle is:
The other side of the rope was not tied to
anything.

And here is another one, which I feel is
more rewarding then the horse riddle:

--------------------------------------------
A dozen Royals gathered round,
Entertained by two who clowned.
Each King there had servants ten,
Though none of them were also men.
The lowest servant sometimes might,
Defeat the King in a fair fight.
A weapon stout, a priceless jewel,
The beat of life, a farmer's tool.

What am I talking about here folks?

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Valnuary, in the year 352 AF.
