History Lesson

Very well, Alanna, if you really want to attend an Occultist history class,
I suppose you have succeeded into goading me into giving you a quick history
lesson. If you read the first paragraph to "The Rite of Humiliation", you
would see that Templar Janus Veritus wrote, "Years later, these words
were remembered and the Templars were founded in memory of St. Gregor."
This, of course, refers to Pasiphae's words which were supposedly passed
down through the generations by her family. Although you are correct that
the Church was founded by "the great-great-great-granddaughter of the
Offspring Pasiphae", there is no indication that the Templars were founded
simultaneously at this time. In fact, quite the opposite is true. If we look
to the documents of the Church, it simply states that "The second order,
the Templars, were to be the enforcement arm of the Church." In short, there
is no time frame given for how soon the Templars emerged after the "first
order", the Priesthood. Certainly, nothing here refutes Veritus when he
wrote that the Templars were founded "years later" in St. Gregor's memory.

The question, of course, is when exactly the Templars were founded.
According to the Guild file you refer to, the Templars "were founded
by Sir Gawain on the 19th of Ero, in the 174th year after the fall of
the Selucarian Empire." Since this is 178 AF, that means the Templars
were founded a scant 4 years ago! However, the Church documents seem to
infer that the Templars were around at the time of Archprelate Raphael,
which was 900 years ago. I can only guess that the Guild file meant that
the "modern-day" Templars were founded by Gawain 4 years ago.

With all due respect, Alanna, I would encourage you not to spout off on
things you do not know. Trust that historians like myself know what we are
talking about, and if you have questions, you might want to come to us first
before making such an ass of yourself.
