Excuse me for being pedantic, but usage of "a" or "an" differs not
necessarily from continent to continent, but merely from person to
person, depending on their particular mixture of accents and dialects.

I personally know many people from my home town in Ulangi that pronounce
"honour" with a "ghghxch" in front, and therefore they use "a". (Bear in
mind they are Grook, and so have a longer tongue than most. Please do
not try to pronounce "ghghxch" at home.) I, however, pronounce it
"'onour", and so use "an".
Again, excuse me for being pedantic, I have nothing better to do really.
