Crafts and Concoctions

Several have asked me why I think Phaestus gave Concoctions to the world
when it was clearly Lady Gaia that did so. Most have done this
tentatively thinking I am some horendous ogre that is going to bite your
head off for asking questions that most certainly pertain to the Ethos
of Phaestus, the Soulforger. Firstly let me asure everyone that I wont
bite any heads as this topic does intrigue me, how little Achaeans know
of my Father.

I say that Phaestus gave the skill of concoctions to the world for one
reason, according to the Lorekeepers of the Dwarven Clans, he did. The
history, as spoken since the first dwarf was given freedom of thought by
the powers that be, state that each craft in the world was an idea in
Phaestus ' head and he taught these to the Dwarven people. Our Lore
states that there are many Dwarven Clans, all of which had a goal and
purpose in Phaestus plan for His children. One of these was a clan of
hunters and farmers, foresters and herbalists. To these Dwarves Phaestus
taught the skill of harvesting the plants of the world for the greater
good. This skill was old at this time however. Before this time Phaestus
also taught the skill to the first mortal races in this world and the
miriad of worlds which He and Ayar created.

Lady Gaia was as great a protector of nature as any divinity ever could
be, and in Her wisdom she saw the need for the skill to be taught to
druids and sentinels of the world so they could better use the plants of
the earth to save the earth. She never created the skill so the Lore
tells us, She just allowed its use and may well have taught that which
Her brother taught the first mortal races that inhabited the planet.

Phaestus, the Creator is just that, he creates. He creates by crafting,
the premier skill of which is Forging as spoken by common tongue. Do not
be fooled that this is the only Craft in Achaea.ANyone that creates
something is emulating that which Phaestus did for mortals first. From
mixing herbs together you craft many things. From milking the bloods
venom you create and craft a vial of venom. Combining raw elements into
enchantments or totems, you craft magical items of great power. Even the
making of bombs, suicide mice, puppets and dolls is the combining of raw
materials into a finished good, the idea behind which is a craft.

If anyone has any question pertaining to the realm of Phaestus, please
do not hesitate to contact Myself, or the High Cleric of Phaestus, Pwyll
(The Runewarden) or one of His other Clerics - Emty (The Sentinel) or
Brandilar (The Paladin). In particular if you are curious of Phaestus
role in the life of a Sentinel, a lovely dogmatic piece by Emty.
