Oakstone's abuse of power

Lady Demeter,
My question is simple. How can Oakstone lay claim to man-made constructs
like gardens? /Especially/ privately-owned man-made constructs?
Gardens contain plants, true. But they were planted with the seeds of
herbs bought by an individual. Does Oakstone lay claim to those herbs?
Each month, denizens of Sapience consume hundreds of plants, preventing
the possible growth of nature. Is this a crime against nature?
It was my understanding that whatever one does after one has bought the
plants is one's own business. As long as Oakstone got its cut.
Was it not in the past that Oakstone only intervened if the city
specifically asked for them to? Why the sudden change in policy?
Oakstone's duty is to forests, not gardens. By claiming man-made
constructs are under its jurisdiction, the organization has opened a can
of worms. Unfortunately, this is not Oakstone's problem, it is the rest
of the world's.
To those not of Oakstone,
I urge anyone enemied for exterminating his or her garden to contact his
or her city officials. Have all five Hierophants of Oakstone enemied in
response. For, how can they know you exterminated without trespassing
on, or aiding the trespassing of, your personal property?
Respond in kind.
