On Mediocrity

If you develop habits of pride - publicly telling one group what another
group should be doing, for example, - then you will become habitually
prideful. The habitually prideful are ever kept from the mercy and love
of the Light.
The Light has always found an enemy in mediocre minds. The latter cannot
comprehend when the former does not simply, thoughtlessly, submit to
prejudices but courageously uses his intelligence instead.
There is nothing more demanding in this world than the taste for
mediocrity. Beneath its ever so moderate appearance there is nothing
more intemperate; nothing surer in its instinct; nothing more pitiless
in its refusals. It suffers no greatness, serves beauty no mercy.
Blessed be the Light,
