My dear Dumas.
My post was not an argument. It was a statement. But as I suspect your
opinion may be shared by other citizens of Cyrene, I will address your
concerns.
I did not, at any point, try to tell Cyrene what to do. In fact, I
believe what you are doing is quite correct, from your perspective. It
is true that it is the Dark Order primarily involved in the attack. This
is done for two reasons. The first is that it is the Dark Order that has
the means to accomplishing our task. The second is that, believe it or
not, we would like to minimize bloodshed. As far as getting information,
we have been kicked out of every information-gathering meeting in
Cyrene, so whatever new concepts you may have discovered, all that was
made known to us (quite clearly) was that the amulet will go to a humgii
before we get a glance at it.
This is fine. As I said, you have made your decision, and we have made
ours. If you took the time to think, you would know that neither myself
nor my brethen are generally aggressive people. I never kill without
cause, nor attack without cause. And I never indulge myself in prejudice
any more than I can possibly prevent it - which has been rather far. Put
aside your anger and recognize that we are not evil thugs. We are
desperate, yes, desperate to save a part of our lives that we have
fought for. You believe Twilight requires an ulterior motive? Look back
in the histories, Duma, and see how much Dark blood was shed for the
Wood, how many years of suffering and trials, how much energy and tears
were expended by the Dark Lord and His followers. The Darkenwood to us
IS our city, our home, and our haven. THAT is what we are fighting for.
THAT is Twilight's ulterior motive.
I truly regret the necessity of the attacks in Cyrene. When this is
resolved, one way or another, we shall make what reparations we are
able, without reservation nor any further expectations. We do not wish
to harm another citizen if it can be at all helped. But we will, if we
must. Streets can be rebuilt. Bodies can be immolated. Perhaps with
skill, even Blu could be restored to life again. But the Darkenwood and
Demeter do not have that happy option. And so, we fight until our last
breath.
