Lost

i lost you a while back
sometime ago, you let me go
but my heart still clings desprately
to the one who used to make me fly
but you left a long time ago
and I soar with broken wings
knowing that you're no longer here,
aware that you no longer care
my logic tells me that you're gone
but my heart still refuses to see
the empty space you left behind
like a passionate soldier, wounded
battling in an empty field
against an enemy that never was
and a purpose long forgotten,
my heart fights on for you
even though you gave up and left
even though I lost you
even though you let me go
even though you're gone

Penned by my hand on the 20th of Mayan, in the year 295 AF.
