Once - The Poet

Before I was born
You have been there
Wherever I go
Nothing can compare
So high No mountains can reach
So far No arrows can touch
So great No mortals worthy
My ambitions, desires
My losses, failures
My muse
My life
All You
All Yours
Would You see me whole?
I write
For days I keep yearning
I drink
For nights blessed silvery
All for You
Not even enough.
Starve this body
Wither these hands
Drink for Your beauty
Would You understand?
Take apart my heart
Put aside my eyes
Pull my artery
Blood of my being
Staining the scenery
You cover it up
The sky, Your hair
Tonight
frivolous stars
Only You shine bright
Your glory, I raise my glass
Drink with me
I know You would not
Those birds
Those plants
Those lights
They are distracting me
The water is calm
how quiet
serene
For Your beauty,
I row
and row,
drink.
I row,
and row,
and row,
drink.
I keep
rowing,
rowing,
drink.
Can you
see
my soul?
The stars are close
so close
And so are you?
Why are you
thus
sad tonight?
Why are you
fractured,
distorted?
Are you crying,
damaged,
disturbed?
Please,
please,
please,
let me hold you
Anything,
please,
please,
just not your
tears.
I will comfort you
The world is dizzy
I reach for your light
The water rippling
o
.
You
finally accepted
me.
Drown me
in
your arms
.
My life
in
your hands
.
Perished.
Penned by my hand on the 9th of Valnuary, in the year 1013 AF.
