Motes

Fellows, that you might understand me,
so do I empathise this advice to thee:
stick to comparisons of earthly things -
or you might better heed the words on wings
and tongues, to you, which spit and breeze
like shrieks in lies-laden limbs of trees.

In woe-betide wits come floods of tears,
with sorrow come, with gloom and fears
too great for mortal tongue of scribe.
The Gods alone may Them deride
and merit such - if not obeisance -
the tact you've lacked in your complacence.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Valnuary, in the year 1007 AF.
