Star Sign

The fallen drift where cold winds roam,
Still tracing constellations home.
Longing blooms where light once stayed,
A silver ache that does not fade.

Fear wrapped its hands around the fire,
And taught the faithful heart to tire.
Yet even then, through fractured skies,
Love lingered softly in disguise.

The moon drank gold the sun once gave,
While stars kept watch above the wave.
Two distant souls, through shadow cast,
Still warmed by echoes of the past.

And if the dark should seal the sea,
Or night unmake what used to be,
The heavens know what hearts conceal:
Some losses never cease to feel.
