Never Enough

I keep asking myself if it's real
Or if there were words I could say to make you feel
Like I'm worth it, maybe then you'd stay only mine
But I guess all the time we spent together was never enough
Never enough to make you really be in love
It was all a beautiful illusion
Just a dreamed up life we could have had together

How didn't I know that you'd give up, that you would simply turn to another
Someone who you say simply has more time, because what I have was never going to fill you up
I forgave your mistakes time and again, even when you do the same ones on repeat
You think gifts heal the holes you've made in my heart
But no gift could ever fix the scar you left behind

You said you wanted a queen, so I hope you treat her right
Remember not to poke at her cracks, while expect them not to bleed
Keep your promises, or better yet, make none of them at all
Don't get down because she finds a way to rise
Stand by her, even when she shines

You have counted my flaws, tallied them up
And you have used them as excuse to look beyond
Finding another is never hard, I truly do wish you the best with your new love
For what I had of it is now gone
You claim you can only be with one, so one it shall be, that one will never again be me
I have seen my own way out of your life, severing all ties
Now kindly remove yourself from mine

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Scarlatan, in the year 999 AF.
