The Tuber Triumphant, Volume I, Poem 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently someone very dear to me said that potatoes have eyes every where, which inspired today's poem, Thank you my muse!
<@@@> The Watcher Underground <@@@>
How many eyes watch from the dark?
Each one a witness, each one a spark
Counting footsteps, counting heartbeats,
Counting marks.
The soil records what hands above forget -
The weight of steps, the shadow of a threat,
The patience of the root that pays the debt.
And when at last the digging comes for me,
I'll rise with all I have seen, and I'll be -
The thousand eyes that watched you from the
Deep
Still waiting, still Awake, still seeing you sleep.
