Between Oaths

A daughter born of iron lines,
Where Duty carves and Honour binds.

My father's voice, a distant shore,
My city's cry, a call to war.

I kneel to both, but serve just one,
Yet find no peace beneath the sun.

For blood remembers what steel forgets,
And oaths are ink that never sets.

If heart and helm must come to part,
Then let me wear the heavier heart.

Penned by my hand on the 11th of Lupar, in the year 979 AF.
