Tale of the Fox Prince

In a time and land far from our own
There was a fox prince of some renown
He wore sable cloaks and was dashing
Yet yearned for a life of adventuring
As women wanted the man who would be king

Time passed and he was told to marry
He had to make haste, he could not tarry
The prince slipped out to town in a disguise
A beggar who was disdained as one may surmise
Til a young maiden offered him aid, a surprise

She offered him a job, clothes, and some gold
Gave him food, a blanket, and a warm drink to hold
The fox prince threw off his cloak then and there
Revealing himself to the maiden so kind and fair
They married and lived happily ever after with care

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Valnuary, in the year 972 AF.
