Outside Looking In

Within a town is a little lass
Someone who by a church would pass
Each day as she went about her tasks
Within the walls was merriment and light
People gathered, close-knit, ever so bright

Initially she began peeking through the window
A softness in her eyes as she saw the warm glow
Of people who cared for one another she'd ne'er know
Time passed, she grew older, and still that window calls
Of a fellowship that seemed never ending within those walls

The youthful spark that once held hope
Became bitterness as she learned to cope
Barely surviving as slowly her heart broke
Those behind that glass she saw about her day
Would never be her friends or fellowship anyway

For some life is filled with purpose and peace
Of friends who are close knit and would never cease
No one's ego would they ever bother or need to appease
For some they will always remain on the outside looking in
Reality of life as a loner with their hearts hardening within

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Ero, in the year 941 AF.
