It Was Your Light

Your eyes are just like the sun,
Bright, cheery, and warm.
I'm sure they've seen both (my) pain and fun,
Yet they shine a myriad of stars!

Getting lost in them now my favourite past time,
Though they turn a blank state out of my mind.
No more grief and no more worrying about woes,
Ah, how wonderful it is when you let them shine and show.

Just call out for me, and I'll come!
Falling deep in darkness, your eyes showed me YOUR light.
To my messes I was reluctant to drag you forth,
Yet here I am, stealing your rhymes at night.

From laughing so hard, my face hurts and so do my lungs,
After thinking for years I was unable to feel,
How did you make me yearn so bad for your arms?
How was I so blind to not know that's what I needed to heal?

Happiness and love, yes, were a lifetime away,
Then I realized your eyes are truly like the Sun,
Well, if the den in my heart didn't randomly breach!
It's a pleasant surprise you didn't run from that flood.

Picture me sighing, unable to bring this poem to an end.
Where am I going with this? What is it I am trying to say?
Who knows really? Disjointed thoughts and giddy feelings fill the page.
Please pretend it was cool and deep, I've been sleepless for days.

There's no more need to hide and hurt,
The love I've professed to you is real,
I wish I could vanish your pain with a plea,
But all I can do is sweeten the deal.

This got too long, and I'm running out of rhymes,
I love you, may we be together for a long time.
May all of Sapience and the Gods know how I feel,
Because not even They can tear me apart from your side.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Mayan, in the year 940 AF.
