Letting go

In slavery, 'twas there I met,
a woman fierce and strong.
A Xoran huge and scaly yet-
I loved her, afore long.

I did not mind the scales,
I did not mind the teeth.
Nor the talons you called nails,
I knew what lay beneath.

Pierced the armor that you wore,
I broke that heart of stone
And with you swore, forevermore,
We'd never be alone.

Matched in Service, bound in chains,
We kept the solemn rules:
Cheerfully we bore the pains,
Though they called us fools.

Never did I taste your lips,
While we were yet bound,
Turned my eyes from your hips,
Until we freedom found.

What joy we felt upon that day,
When at last we could be one.
And in that cabin we did stay,
Until the break of dawn.

Now you and I have long since split,
And you've abandoned all you knew,
Alone I sit, and remember it-
And let go of you.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Phaestian, in the year 932 AF.
