A Sestina of Flame and Ire

Enheduanna, once a demigoddess fair,
Sought only love with Han-Silnar, her heart's desire.
But for this sin, the Tribunal was severe,
Stripping her divinity, her soul aching with ire.
Exiled to Pazuzu's infernal court, in suffering,
Broken and twisted by torment and chaos.

In the infernal court, she became chaos,
Madness consuming Enheduanna, once fair,
Her spirit shattered, her body suffering.
Pazuzu's power twisted her to his desire,
Made her his toy, ruined her with his ire,
And turned her into a monster, a being severe.

In her new form, she was both beautiful and severe,
A twisted visage, with eyes of black chaos,
Needle-sharp teeth, and hair of flame, stoking ire.
She roamed the countryside, once so fair,
Spilling blood and sating her dark desire,
Until she reached Shallam, and their suffering.

She had the Ashtani forge her a weapon, severe,
The Earthquake Spear, born of her foul desire,
Using the spearhead from her shrine with unbridled ire.
With it, she devastated the lands, brought forth chaos,
And the people of Shallam, once so fair,
Crafted a ritual to break the power of her suffering.

Foehn, a mortal, was drawn by her suffering
And seized the spear, took it with an air most severe,
An alliance invading the lair of Enheduanna once-fair.
A battle ensued, her foes desperate, her ire
Fierce and unrelenting, as she unleashed chaos,
Fighting to the bitter end for her unquelled desire.

As the mortals struck the killing blow, her suffering was broken,
The glass heart of her power shattered, her fair
Form consumed in flames, her chaos no longer desired.

Enheduanna, once an Aldar fair,
Fell from grace with a sin so severe,
Her fate sealed by her own pure desires and ire.
