Pirates

Written by: Wynu Indasha

Addressed to: Delmar, a pirate with a peg-leg

A pirate with an eye-patch on his face
Is hiding something. We're not meant to see
The spark of mirth that twinkles, or the trace
Of raw compassion for humanity.

A pirate with an eye-patch, black as night,
May cover up the window to his soul
To keep his golden treasures locked up tight.
Like an actor's mask, to stay in role,

A pirate with an eye-patch often speaks
About his love for rum in labored slang,
With far too many "Yarrs!" His ruddy cheeks
Are salted, with a pinch of peppered mange.

But if you take a pirate's patch away,
(Assuming there is not a gruesome scar)
Then firmly look him in the eye. You say,
"I see you for the sailor that you are."

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Daedalan, in the year 890 AF.
