The Letter

Written by: Ilsefi, Augur of Horror

I lived my life without knowing you until I met you,
the ripples from my existence fanning out across the pond
until they touched yours, and I felt - something.

Recognition, yes, but also knowledge that my mortal bones
would be tied to yours in some fashion, only I did not
know what that would be, and I continued on, sometimes looking over.

At you.

Until you spoke and voiced my own quiet thoughts, my passing dreams
that I never quite allowed myself to acknowledge, until your eyes
held mine and I found myself reflected in yours and felt forever.

I want you to know something.

Your letter arrived and with it your poem, and I want you to know
that I have never belonged anywhere or with anyone, although I have
so badly wanted to, I have tried so hard, I have yearned so long.

I chased the wrong dreams, and wanted the wrong person, someone
who would never suit me, never fit me, never quite belong with me
like you will, like you do, like you.

And when I hold you - and I will - I will hold you like you're hope,
I will hold you like you're hope,
I will hold you - I will hold you like you're hope.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Daedalan, in the year 863 AF.
