The Trembling Heart

The Trembling Heart

Dear trembling heart, I know you're scared right now,
There's so much in this world that just might bring you down.
How do you keep on going when you're so afraid?
Yet the rhythm in your heart, you know it just won't fade.

A young girl came prancing into life one day,
Starry-eyed and hopeful as she made her way,
Learned of her family and of a joy called love,
Ready to learn about all that she dreamed of.

She lit of the midnight sky, like a shooting star,
Loved finding adventure, traveling near and far.
Where she might have ventured to, I do not know.
For when trouble called her name, she just let go.

Dear trembling heart, I know it hurts so much.
Oh, how I wish I felt her tender touch.
Lost somewhere out there in the world all alone,
With no one to guide her through the great unknown.

Those who care about us don't always see the pain.
Not the trouble in the eyes, the constant strain.
Once slipped from our grasp, where does happy go?
We fear all the sadness that can bring us low.

Now, all stand alone without the light to fill her life.
Focused on the pain and filled with constant strife.
How do we stop and welcome joy back home?
For a simple laugh, she would forever roam.

Dear trembling heart, she will come back one day.
This dreadful sadness, she will sweep away.
Like the rising sun, she'll fill the world with light.
Just keep on holding on. Don't give up this fight.

Dear trembling heart, I feel your fading beat.
Too long we've held against this sure defeat.
Your rhythm is slowing, quieting your sound.
The joy's not coming back.
No, it can't be found.
